First of all, I want everyone to know its a great honor and privilege to appear in this courthouse before Judge Melville, who is an outstanding and fair and very decent Judge. It is an honor and privilege to be in the wonderful community of Santa Maria where wonderful people live, including the people here with us.
I want to make clear what this case is about. This case is not about lawyers or anyone else becoming celebrities. This defense is going to be conducted with professionalism and dignity at all times. This case is about one thing only, the dignity, the integrity, the decency, the honor, the charity, the innocence, and the complete vindication of a wonderful human being named Michael Jackson.
"Faré una declaració molt breu. Primer de tot, vull que tothom sàpiga que és un gran honor i privilegi ser en auqests jutjats davant el Jutge Melville, que és un jutge excel·lent i molt decent. És un honor i privilegi ser a la meravellosa comunitat de Santa Maria on viu gent mervaellosa, inclosa la gent que és aquí amb nosaltres.
Vull que quedi clar de què va aquest cas. En aquest cas no es tracta de que advocats o qualsevol altre esdevinguin celebritats. Aquesta defensa serà conduida sempre amb professionalitat i dignitat. Aquest cas només tracta una cosa, la dignitat, la integritat, la decència, l'honor, la caritat, la inocència i la completa reivindicació d'un meravellós ésser humà anomenat Michael Jackson."

I wish to thank my family, my friends and my fans, who continue to support me during this difficult time. Thank you so much for your calls, your letters and your prayers. I have the best fans in the world, and I cannot express how much your support means to me. Thank you all for your love, faith and confidence.
I want to thank the community of Santa Maria for your kindness and support. This community means a lot to me. It is the place of my home. My children were born here and many of my employees were born and raised here, and continue to live here.
As I have repeatedly said, I am completely innocent of these false charges, and I am ready to fight for my innocence. I have complete confidence in my defense team, and believe that at the end of these legal proceedings, I will be fully exonerated by a jury of my peers. I plan on spending the rest of the day here with my family, and ask that you respect our privacy.
